When the National Mortgage Bankers Association met in New Orleans, Mouton Media helped Chairman Mark Jones and Author/Realtor Twala Lockett-Jones in their efforts to get kids thinking about homeownership, particularly those in low to moderate-income areas. Lockett-Jones held a reading of her book, “Princess Mackie Buys a House” at Homer Plessy School. Dozens of third graders listened intently while they read along in books donated by the Association. Communities of color are a full ten years behind the national average when it comes to homeownership. It is a huge hurdle to overcome in one’s financial lifetime.
